Obama, world leaders forge broad deal on Asia-Pacific trade By Vicki Needham - 11/12/11 08:31 PM ET As expected, world trade leaders announced Saturday the broad outlines of an agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) with the intention of completing negotiations on a legal framework "as rapidly as possible." During talks during the U.S.-hosted Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Honolulu world leaders from 21 countries, trade officials of the nine negotiating nations said a deal has been forged to move ahead within the next year that would open trade in the Pacific Rim. "There are still plenty of details to work out, but we are confident that we can do so," President Obama said following the meeting "So we've directed our teams to finalize this agreement in the coming year," he said.
