I am still and optimist. Yet history shows and science verifies that humans have problems with governance.
The climate change debate is a serious issue and similar to the atomic proliferation with potential catastrophic consequences: The question is, will we as a species survive?

Most likely not. Due to simply the lack of agreement on the simplest issues.  The proof is in history. The power with the most intensive destruction capability wins. Always.

Increasingly the government in authority whether dictator or Representative allows the key decision to be made by those interests which desire to promote their own agenda. Simply put many years ago. The Golden Rule: Those who have the gold, RULE.
The United States and other industrialized nations are a perfect example. The govt. of the people is rule by lobbyists who literally pay for their "agenda" to be voted the way their business desires need.
Yes it is sad.
Now. How long do we have till the disease and possible anarchy moves from Africa to Europe and the Americas.
Stay tuned.

Will they ever stop fighting?

Humans are agressive, some more than others. The issue of Middle East Peace seems to be promoted as a line in the sand philosphy.  You live onthat site and I'll live over herre...

The problem is a simple one which is psychological. Jews believe one thing and Palestine's believe differently. The govt officials which try to please the massess do so mostly for their own agenda and that of the ruling govt party.  So the rocket launchers try to eliminate the 'agreemets of peace' by intimidating civillans with pain and death. Sad but true.

So why this?

Study History and you'll see the parallels of society to todays "civilized 1st world" industrialized nations.  Rome for example did well while it was growing and had progressed to the Empire that dominated the world.  It was only when the attitude of the leaders of Rome went to a degraded state that the Empire lost its appeal to the citizens and the military which led to the fall.

Humans have been able to created technology beyond the understanding of the future implications. Thus we have a t o m i c Energy which produces waste and we are not able to dispose of the waste.  We have computers which rule our lives and we cannot control the output of the preprogrammed effects of the Wall Street Traders.

I'm not a pessimist.

I am the most proficent optimist.  In 1995 I lived in the wilderness, w/o running water, electricity, etc. The view was beautiful, 100 + ac overlooking the Pacific south of Langlois , Oregon.  From the approximatley 1000' above sea level I would watch the sun set on the Pacific and the Comet cross the sky at night.  Optimistically I would read about building and modifying my own 386 computer by the flashlight or the car dome light I hooked up to an extra car battery.
